Dreaming of a Summer Fun Day
Even on these chilly days there are still the first signs of Spring with the blooming daffadils. While I sit and read cozying up in a blanket, I can’t help but let my mind wander to the warm days of summer.
It’s a Saturday in July and there is no better way to start off the day than by surprising the kids with a trip to the Waterpark. We wake them with the exciting news and they rush to get ready, playing the game of who will be ready first. Once everyone is dressed and the car is packed it’s time to hit the road. We sing along to a few songs and next thing you know we are there! A quick wait in line to go through bag check and to scan our season passes and the kids race off to try surfing at the FlowRider. They will leave it to us to find loungers under an umbrella to call homebase for the day.
With almost no lines, we spend the day watching the kids race down the slides or join them on the family raft rides. We spend hours soaking up the sun while floating down the Lazy River. Lunch time for us includes some BBQ nachos from Heavenly Hawgs and shrimp tacos from OBX Eats. Before leaving, the kids beg for a funnel cake from Dune Devils while I choose a Mini Melt from Outer Franks.
The time comes to depart for the day and the kids are asleep before we even leave the parking lot. We sure do love a family day at the Waterpark. There’s nothing better than seeing the smiling faces of the kids enjoying themselves. Oh how I long for a summertime fun day.
